SHEEPSHEAD    BAY

THE OLD STATION WAS AT SHORE ROAD (TOP LEFT)
THE NEW STATION WAS AT VOORHEES AVENUE NEXT TO THE BRIGHTON LINE



SHEEPSHEAD BAY STATION AND SHORE ROAD CROSSING IN 1903 LOOKING EAST (SOUTH).
ACCESS TO THE WESTBOUND PLATFORM WAS THROUGH THE FIRST FLOOR OF TOWER 79.


ON MARCH 6,  1906 BROOKLYN RAPID TRANSIT BRIGHTON BEACH TRAINS BEGAN RUNNING ON THE LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD'S MANHATTAN BEACH BRANCH BETWEEN B.R.T. JUNCTION AND SHEEPSHEAD BAY JUNCTION.   THIS IS SHEEPSHEAD BAY STATION LOOKING WEST (NORTH) BETWEEN MARCH 6 AND JUNE 11.  THE SWITCHES ARE LINED TO ROUTE THE OPEN EL CARS TO TEMPORARY TRACKS CONNECTING THE LONG ISLAND WITH THE BRIGHTON BEACH LINE.   THE SWITHES ARE HAND THROWN AND THE SIGNALS ARE RED AND GREEN OR WHITE FLAGS - ONE IS VISIBLE IN THIS PHOTOGRAPH FROM THE COLLECTION OF PAUL MATUS.   ON JUNE 11 THE CONNECTION WAS MOVED TO SHEEPSHEAD BAY JUNCTION.
