THE PROSPECT PARK AND SOUTH BROOKLYN RAILROAD WAS INCORPORATED JUNE 15, 1888 AND BECAME PART OF THE ROUTE BETWEEN GRAVESEND AVENUE AND UNION DEPOT AND LATER THE 39th STREET FERRY. IT WAS USED BY PROSPECT PARK & CONEY ISLAND AND LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD TRAINS. THE P. P. & S. B. JOINED THE P. P. & C. I. AT KENSINGTON JUNCTION AND THE BROOKLYN, BATH & WEST END AT CITY LINE JUNCTION AT NINTH AVENUE.

AT THE LEFT IS KENSINGTON STATION.

HAS BEEN COVERED AND GRAVESEND AVENUE HAS BEEN PAVED.

IN 1919 THE P.P. & S.B. AND THE P.P. & C.I. WERE ELEVATED FROM NINTH AVENUE TO CONEY ISLAND, DOING AWAY WITH THE NEED FOR AN INTERLOCKING. THE TOWER THOUGH OUT OF SERVICE REMAINED STANDING UNTIL THE 1950'S.

IN 1953 THE SWITCHES WERE HAND THROWN AND HAD COLOR LIGHT TARGET SIGNALS
BY 1907 A BRANCH OF THE STREET CAR TRACKS HAD BEEN BUILT ALONG SIXTEENTH AVENUE
TO SIXTY-THIRD STREET. BY 1946 THE BRANCH WAS GONE AND A LOOP HAD BEEN INSTALLED.
ON JUNE 29, 1953 BILL SLADE PHOTOGRAPHED PCC NUMBER 1079 ENTERING THE LOOP. IN THE FOREGROUND IS THE LOOP TRACK WHERE IT CROSSED THE SOUTHBOUND TRACK AND RAN TO A CONNECTION WITH THE NORTHBOUND AT THE RIGHT CAN BE SEEN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE STEEL WORK FOR THE CULVER SHUTTLE WHICH REPLACED THROUGH SERVICE FROM HERE TO NINTH AVENUE WHEN THE CULVER LINE WAS CONNECTED WITH THE IND OCTOBER 30, 1954.
