LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD SERVICE FROM HUNTERS POINT TO BRIGHTON BEACH
BEGAN AUGUST 6,  1878  AT   4:00  P.M.     THIS IS THE FIRST TIMETABLE



A   JOINT   LONG   ISLAND   RAIL   ROAD   AND   BROOKLYN,
FLATBUSH   &   CONEY   ISLAND   RAILWAY   TICKET   SIZE   PASS









TRAINS USED THE FORMER FLUSHING & NORTH SIDE TERMINAL - WHICH APPEARS ON THIS CIRCA 1874 MAP - AND HAD TO RUN VIA THE MAIN LINE AND JAMAICA .




LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD TRAINS FROM LONG ISLAND CITY RAN TO BRIGHTON BEACH VIA THE MAIN LINE AND TWO NEW JUNCTIONS - BRIGHTON JUNCTION 3/4 MILE WEST OF JAMAICA AND BERLIN JUNCTION AT THE CONNECTION WITH THE ATLANTIC DIVISION.   THIS TRACK REMAINED UNTIL THE JAMAICA GRADE CROSSING ELIMINATION AS THE "ENGINE RUN AROUND TRACK".

THIS 1879 TIME TABLE SHOWS BRIGHTON JUNCTION,
BERLIN JUNCTION AND BEDFORD JUNCTION.





THIS TIME TABLE APPEARS TO BE A SUMMER TABLE REVISED FOR THE FALL SCHEDULE.








IN THIS DECEMBER 1908 PHOTO LOOKING EAST AT MORRIS PARK, THE ENGINE RUN AROUND
TRACK IS SEEN AT THE DISTANT LEFT.   THE TRACKS IN THE FOREGROUND ARE THE MONTAUK
DIVISION AT THE LEFT AND ATLANTIC DIVISION   -   ELECTRIFIED IN 1905   -   AT THE RIGHT.


LONG ISLAND BRIGHTON BEACH TRAINS WERE SUPERIOR TO FIRST CLASS TRAINS!
