THE BROOKLYN, FLATBUSH AND CONEY ISLAND RAILWAY THE BRIGHTON BEACH LINE Part TWO THE FRANKLIN AVENUE SHUTTLE |
THIS 1965 PHOTOGRAPH SHOWS THE FRANKLIN AVENUE SHUTTLE CROSSING ATLANTIC AVENUE AND APPROACHING DEAN STREET STATION. ART ASKED PAUL MATUS ABOUT THE "CONEY ISLAND" DESTINATION SIGN: "The sign would not be right as a regular service train, however it is very possibly a diversion due to trackwork north of DeKalb or an emergency. "The “QT” is not quite right under any circumstance, but there was no distinct signage for the Franklin Shuttle on the R27s, and the motormen often used whatever seemed best (this was before”SS”). OR it could be further indication of a Brighton Local diversion." |
