A B. R. T. FORNEY WITH A NORTHBOUND TRAIN AT PARK PLACE STATION
PAUL MATUS REMARKS: "One thing that bugs me is that Brighton Line steam photo I identified some time ago — you know, “Park Place”? It bothers me because the nearest bridge behind the train is too far back. Now I enhanced and blew the picture up in Photoshop to see what else I could see. It certainly looks BRT, but I also see that at the back of the station there is a curve to the right, which doesn’t fit Park Place at all, now or then. The other candidates for a station like that would be Consumers Park, Woodruff Avenue and Church Avenue (if the latter had been north of the street, which I don’t think it ever was until post-1918). None of them would have that curve in the background. That fence between the tracks also seems not Brighton-ish.

OPEN EL CARS AT CHURCH AVENUE STATION IN 1957. ARRT ASKED B.R.T. EXPERT PAUL MATUS WHY THERE WERE TROLLEY POLES ON THESE CARS. PAUL EXPLAINS: "You are right that the el poles (also the steps) were removed after the end of street running / grade crossing (except e105) operations. But the poles were restored on elevated equipment used in work service in order to be used on South Brooklyn operations, i.e., on McDonald Ave., and the Bush Terminal area.
For 1957 these cars are surely in work service. Only 1300 (Series) convertibles remained in passenger service after the last of the Fulton L quit in 1956."
