BEDFORD   STATION - BEDFORD   JUNCTION

THE LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD'S FIRST INTERLOCKING PLANT AND TOWER WERE INSTALLED AT BEDFORD JUNCTION ON ATLANTIC AVENUE JUST WEST OF FRANKLIN AVENUE.   RATHER THAN HAVING THE HOME SIGNALS' ASPECTS INDICATE THE POSITION OF SWITCHES AFTER BEING DISPLAYED FOR TRAINS ,   THERE WERE SEPARATE SEMAPHORE SWITCH SIGNALS AND COLOR HOME SIGNALS.   (SEE MAP AND READ "SIGNALS AT BEDFORD STATION" BELOW.)

THE 1902 TRACK PLANS VERIFY HAROLD'S DESCRIPTION AND LOCATION.

BEDFORD AVENUE WAS ONE OF THE BUSY GRADE CROSSINGS
WHICH WERE PROTECTED BY BARRIER GATES.
