ON FIFTH AVENUE AT 36th STREET |
BROOKLYN UNION ELEVATED RAILROAD'S 5TH AVENUE EL

SOUTH OF 36TH STREET STATION WAS A JUNCTION CONTROLLED BY AN INTERLOCKING. THE TRACKS TO THE LEFT WENT TO NINTH AVENUE AND WERE USED BY WEST END AND CULVER TRAINS. THE TRACKS TO THE RIGHT WENT TO THIRD AVENUE AND SOUTH TO 65TH STREET BAY RIDGE AND WERE USED BY THROUGH TRAINS AND THIS ONE CAR SHUTTLE. |
AT 65TH STREET PASSENGERS COULD CHANGE TO A STREET CAR WHICH RAN DOWN A RAMP TO STREET LEVEL. UNTIL PASSENGER SERVICE TO BAY RIDGE WAS WITHDRAWN IN 1897 PASSENGERS COULD WALK DOWNSTAIRS TO A LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD TRAIN TO MANHATTAN BEACH OR A CULVER TRAIN TO CONEY ISLAND.
