Rebecca
Nelson is a graduate student in the anthropology department
at the University of Connecticut, Storrs. She is pursuing her PhD
in cultural anthropology, and her research interests include
globalization, material culture, the invention of tradition,
cultural commoditization, tourism and tourist art, and women's
cooperatives. She was valedictorian of the class of 2007 of the
State University of New York at Potsdam. She double-majored in
anthropology and archaeology, with minors in museum studies and
art history.
