IN 1886 AN INTERLOCKING WAS INSTALLED.
IN 1903 PNEUMATIC SIGNAL COMPANY OF ROCHESTER NEW YORK - LATER PART OF GENERAL RAILWAY SIGNAL COMPANY - DREW UP THIS PLAN FOR A PNEUMATIC INTERLOCKING. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT IT WAS EVER INSTALLED. THIS MOST LIKELY REPRESENTS THE TRACK LAYOUT IN 1903.

IN 1906 A THIRD TRACK WAS INSTALLED BETWEEN THE END OF DOUBLE TRACK ON THE OLD SOUTHERN ROAD EAST OF LAURELTON AND THE WEST LEG OF THE WYE AT VALLEY STREAM
IN 1907 THIS TOWER WITH 56 LEVERS WAS BUILT TO REPLACE THE 1886 TOWER
IN 1910 TWO NEW TRACKS WERE INSTALLED BETWEEN VALLEY STREAM AND LYNBROOK

THESE SWITCHES ARE ELECTRO - PNEUMATIC AND
ARE OPERATED FROM CA INTERLOCKING. LATER THEY BECAME PART OF THE NEW "VA" INTERLOCKING. THIS WEST END OF "VA" INTERLOCKING AND CENTRAL AVENUE GRADE CROSSING REMAINED AT GROUND LEVEL FOR ANOTHER TWENTY YEARS.
