ON DECEMBER 9, 1841 THE ROAD WAS EXTENDED EAST TO "BABYLON" STATION WHICH MAY
HAVE BEEN AT OR NEAR THE LATER WYANDANCH STATION OR POSSIBLY AT EAST NECK ROAD.

IN 1895 THE RAILROAD PURCHASED PROPERTY EAST OF SECATOGUE AVENUE AND BUILT THIS BRICK STATION




IN 1909 THE HUNTINGTON RAILROAD WAS OPENED FROM HUNTINGTON STATION TO AMITYVILLE.

         

A SPUR RAN FROM CONKLIN AVENUE TO THE L. I. R. R. STATION


AN ADDITION TO THE WEST END OF FARMINGDALE STATION WAS BUILT TO HOUSE A SUB - STATION.

JUST WEST OF THE STATION AND SECATOGUE AVENUE HILLS SUPERMARKETS HAD A WAREHOUSE AND SIDING


JUST   WEST   OF   MAIN   STREET   LOOKING   NORTHEAST


BLOCK STATION CABIN "B", LOCATED AT MAIN STREET, CONTROLLED BLOCK SIGNALS AND
CROSSING GATES. IT WAS FIRST LISTED IN EMPLOYE TIME TABLE NUMBER 73, MAY 27, 1914
TIME TABLE NUMBER 88, OCTOBER 18, 1918 CALLS THIS CABIN "A"
AND SHOWS "PW" CABIN AT THE END OF THE NEW DOUBLE TRACK.
CABIN "A" LAST APPEARS IN TIME TABLE NUMBER 102, MAY 21, 1925
AND WAS CLOSED WHEN "B" TOWER OPENED AUGUST 21, 1925.

THE SWINGING GATES NO DOUBT WERE SWUNG ACROSS
THE TROLLEY TRACKS AND CROSSING BY TRAIN CREWS.


SOUTH  FARMINGDALE  STATION
1873 - 1898  and   1936 - 1974

AMITYVILLE ROAD HAD BECOME MAIN STREET.

IN 1987 HIGH PLATFORMS, THIRD RAIL AND A SUB-STATION WERE
INSTALLED. THESE PHOTOGRAPHS WERE TAKEN IN SEPTEMBER 1987.










EAST OF THE STATION, NORTH OF THE TRACKS AND JUST WEST OF ROUTE 110 WAS A SAND MINE
FROM THIS MINE THE RAILROAD OBTAINED SAND FOR LOCOMOTIVES AND FOR FILL AND BALLAST.

IN THE LATER 1950'S OR 1960'S MET FOODS BUILT A LARGE WAREHOUSE WITH ONE OR MORE INTERIOR TRACKS. IT BECAME WHITE ROSE FOODS AND OTHER INDUSTRIES BUILT FACILITIES SERVED BY THE RAILROAD.
