LOOKING WEST FROM GARDEN CITY STATION IN 1946 - CHERRY VALLEY ROAD UNDERGRADE CROSSING - CATHEDRAL AVENUE GRADE CROSSING - WESTWARD MANUAL BLOCK SIGNAL AT END OF WESTBOUND PLATFORM WAS SIGNAL "07L" CONTROLLED BY "GARDEN" CABIN AT FRANKLIN AVENUE AND DISPLAYED ONLY "STOP" AND "CLEAR BLOCK" ASPECTS.

A. T. STEWART'S GARDEN CITY STATION - NOTE THE HIGH PLATFORM AND THE
TRAIN ORDER SIGNAL WITH THE LADDER FOR ACCESS TO THE LAMP AND LENSES.

MARCH 1878 VIEW SHOWS AT THE RIGHT A WINDMILL JUST EAST OF THE
HEMPSTEAD BRANCH (FROM MINEOLA) CROSSING OF THE CENTRAL RAIL ROAD.
NOTE THE NEARLY COMPLETED CATHEDRAL OF THE INCARNATION.

THE WINDMILL APPEARS IN THE DISTANCE IN THIS PHOTOGRAPH AND TWO CLOSEUPS.
MINUS THE BLADES AND MECHANICAL APPARATUS THE WINDMILL LASTED UNTIL 1939.
THE BUILDING ON THE RIGHT IS THE C.R.R.L.I. FREIGHT HOUSE.

THE PRESENT STATION WAS BUILT IN 1898 WITH "EYEBROW" WINDOWS.
THE LOWER QUADRANT SEMAPHORE SIGNALS WERE TRAIN ORDER SIGNALS.
GARDEN CITY CEASED BEING A TRAIN ORDER STATION ON OCTOBER 1, 1907.

THE "EYEBROW" WINDOWS WERE GONE BY 1918.

SIGN ON STATION ENLARGED.

THE TROLLEY SHUTTLE USED A THIRD TRACK IN GARDEN
CITY STATION SOUTH OF THE EASTBOUND PLATFORM.
THIS BLUEPRINT HAD THE TRACK BLUED OUT BUT IT CAN BE DISCERNED SOUTH
OF THE PLATFORM AND ACROSS HILTON AVENUE.
