EDGEWOOD IS LOCATED ON THE LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD MAIN LINE BETWEEN DEER PARK AND BRENTWOOD.             EDGEWOOD STATION WAS LOCATED EAST OF GRANT AVENUE CROSSING AND
APPEARED IN TIMETABLES IN THE 1890'S AND LAST APPEARED IN E.T.T. NUMBER 72, OCTOBER 21, 1914.
EDGEWOOD STATION APPEARS ON THIS 1897 MAP.




EDGEWOOD HOSPITAL WAS BUILT ADJACENT TO AND WEST OF PILGRIM STATE
HOSPITAL AND HAD ITS OWN COAL BURNING POWER PLANT AND SIDING.

GRANT AVENUE CROSSING IN 1975 - SINGLE TRACK, TWO LANE ROAD.
WESTWARD FREIGHT WITH LEASED PRECISION NATIONAL ENGINE NO. 1702.


IN 1986 THE RAILROAD WAS BEING ELECTRIFIED AND A STRETCH OF DOUBLE TRACK INSTALLED.
THE CROSSING WAS WIDENED TO FOUR LANES AND IS NOW PART OF LONG ISLAND AVENUE.
GRANT AVENUE NOW DEADENDS SOUTH OF THE RAILROAD. THIS IS LOOKING EAST.
