August 18th
On
our last day in England, we left our luggage in the hotel and went to
the Tate Britain museum,
which houses British art from the 16th century to the
present day. It has a particularly large collection of Pre-Raphaelite
works, before flying home to America. Some of the famous
Pre-Raphaelite works we saw at the Tate Britain were: “Ophelia,”
by John Everett Millais; “The Lady of Shallott,” “On English
Coasts,” by William Holman Hunt; “The Golden Stairs,” by Edward
Burne-Jones, and many more. There were also a number of works from
other periods and movements in art, including works by William Blake,
the Hogarths, Spencer, Gainsborough, and Whistler, and a large Turner
collection.
The flight home was more enjoyable than the flight to England, because we had so many interesting new memories...
