Gladys (Jennie) Jacobsen Nelson, 79, of Long Island, NY and formerly of Elizabeth City, NC died Friday, November 22, 2002, on Long Island. She was a native of Brooklyn, NY and was the daughter of the late Nils and Helene Reinertsen Jacobsen and widow of the late Russell Edward Nelson. She was a retired county employee in New York.
Surviving Mrs. Nelson are a daughter Elaine Bréa of Roslyn Heights, NY, a son, Russell Nelson of Potsdam, NY; a sister, Ruth Hurley of Baldwin, NY and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday evening, November 24, 2002, at 7:30pm in Roslyn Heights, NY
Graveside services were conducted Monday afternoon, November 25, 2002, at 3:00pm in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Father Stan Easty. Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Church St., Elizabeth City was in charge of local arrangements.
